When Third Place Is Good

Aidan placed third at the annual regional mathematics competition held at Prairie State College.

Last year, he was fifth. And the year before that, he was sixth. In first grade, he was only an alternate and didn't get to compete. I definitely call this progress.

What did Aidan have to say about all this? He reports that the subway sandwiches they had for lunch were yummy and the fruit drink was even better.  Spoken like a true Li man.

(Also shown: Bella Torres is the daughter of a colleague of mine at work, Tommy Torres. She is an outstanding math-alete in her own right.)
